This is the general consensus--and I agreed from the beginning. I just
wanted to know if someone had an ace up their sleeve that I didn't know
about before I trekked downtown to the other building and swapped out
cards, drivers, etc... It was more of a lazyness issue than anything else.

It shouldn't be. This config isn't for a production server (Dear God No!!)
-- it's being used for a prototype test bank using hardware we had laying
around for a proof of concept--the current performance just wasn't what I
had hoped from my little 3c509. Again, I was just curious if anyone knew
of a patch or a quick and dirty work around.
