Hi List
I have some questions and How To's, pls help me I will be very
thankful to all of you.....
I am using squid 2.2 STABLE 4 with RH Linux 6.0. I installed it on Celeron
400 with 256 MB Ram and 13GB HDD space. I made two partitions, one for
Linux OS(2 GB including SWAP) and Other /DATA (11 GB) is for squid Caching.
Now pls tell me the following things.

Q 1. How much memory I should use for 11 GB of caching. Is 256 MB is enough
(Pls tell me practical experiences)?
Q 2. How much file discriptors should be configured?
Q 3. I am using squid guard for X STOP service, is it good?
Q 4. I want to divert all of my HTTP and FTP request to Squid Proxy, Can I
do it without router. If yes the How to?
Q 5. Can I use my own DNS server for Name lookup, when I am using never
direct setings. means if I am using parent cache can I use my own DNS
server?
Q 6. My squid is not caching FTP request. Why and How to?
Q 8. There is utility with squid "dnsserver" on which setting it follows,
is it a standalone DNS server, and can we configure it.

Awaiting
