Or you could the new getpwnam or PAM modules for authenticating directly
to your UNIX password system. Both are available in Squid-2.3.DEVEL2
sources, but works equally well with squid-2.2.STABLE4. The PAM module
are also available from my Squid page

However, it is recommended that "normal" users do not have UNIX user
accounts on the proxy server from a management, privacy and security
point of view (Squid does not care).
