cache layout and distribution

Hi,

Running squid-2.2S5 on FreeBSD 3.2. Here's my cache layout:

cache_dir /squid/cache1 1750 16 256
cache_dir /squid/cache2 1750 16 256

Now look at this (both caches show similar results) -

# du -s /squid/cache1/*
612153 /squid/cache1/00
507360 /squid/cache1/01
51634 /squid/cache1/02
286663 /squid/cache1/03
119845 /squid/cache1/04
260 /squid/cache1/05
260 /squid/cache1/06
260 /squid/cache1/07
260 /squid/cache1/08
260 /squid/cache1/09
260 /squid/cache1/0A
260 /squid/cache1/0B
260 /squid/cache1/0C
260 /squid/cache1/0D
260 /squid/cache1/0E
260 /squid/cache1/0F

This cache is about two weeks old. I fully expected to have an even
distribution across the disk. Are my parameters wrong? Is squid strange?
Is the cache still too young but will with time (like all of us) spread
out more evenly?

Colin
