Once your system begins to get larger there is not much you can tune in
Squid to control it's memory usage besides the amount of disk you give
to it. The amount of memory required to maintain the on-disk cache is
not trivial to change. Doing so basically requires a completely
different design of how Squid maintains it's cache.
