Process size..

Hi All,

I have a p300 with 1GB of memory running squid version 1.2.

It has been running fine for a while now. There are 4 x 9 SCSI non-raided
/cache directories which run very well and very fast... however i'm running
into a problem now.

I have calamaris mailing me an update about proxy stats every day. For the
last 3 days.. the TCP HIT rate has dropped from an average of 7kb/s to
0.2kb/s.

I have also noticed via "top" that the size of the squid process is about
800MB!

  142 bin 4 0 829M 829M 924 S 0 0.0 85.9 126:27 squid

I assume this is not right?

Can anyone tell me what size a squid process should get? And why the process
could be getting this big?

The proxy receives about 400,000 hits a day on average.

Thanks!

Regards,
