Re: high CPU usage

I am also having problems with high CPU usage for squid.

I'm running Squid 2.2.STABLE5, on a 486 running FreeBSD 2.2.6-stable.

The machine doesn't run anything else which chews up appreciable CPU time.
I have previously had it running correctly, only using about 20% CPU time
(as reported by top), but for a while it has been hogging 80-90% of the
CPU if there are more than a couple of users. This makes it go painfully
slow. Since it used to work and now doesn't, my guess is that I broke it
somehow by monkeying with it. I put the debugging level up, and found that
cache.log spits out stuff like:

at a rate of knots.

Any ideas? Let me know if a copy of my squid.conf would be useful.
