Off topic for list and does not use squid.
Set windows machine as follow
IP 192.168.1.2 Gateway 192.168.1.1
Set IP on network interface eth0 for linux machine to 192.168.1.1
execute this command
ipchains -A forward -j MASQ -s 192.168.1.0/24 -d 0.0.0.0

Then you can setup a squid to increase speed for stored cache and allow
non-passive ftp, however I've found that IP masq works much better.
