Hi.

Squid will run under the UID of the cache_effective_user paramater no matter
what user you start the daemon under.. I think :) That is how it has always
worked for me in the past..

Subject: File Ownership

Hello,

I have installed squid on linux. I had to create my own cache
directrory and change ownership to nobody:nobody, and had to start
squid as root. Is that not unsafe?. I would have to switch to root
when booting to start squid.

What are the normal ownerships op the directories and files used by
squid?
