details of configuration
1> redhat 6.1 on IBM Netfinity 5000
2> disk cache size 2*3000MB
squid.conf
1> cache_dir /cache1/squid 3000 16 256
2> cache_di /cache2/squid 3000 16 256
3> reference age 5 days
4> cache_mem 32 MB
5> total memory that squid is using is around 140 Mb

i have obseved that
disk cache is not growing beyond 40% og the total disk cache that
is

1>
cache disk space is not growing more than 2300 to 2500 MB of total 6000MB
squid is using both of these partition equally
but total cache size is not growing

what would be the problem ?

2> i have to restart the squid process o else the host running squid every
day because
after serving around 400000 requests squid becomes terible slow
and
the memory status displayed by os shows that
total : 582MB
used :578 Mb -> buffer size : 380 MB
free : 3Mb
 and
number of page faults with physical disk i/o increases teriblly so

what would be the reason ?
