Hierarchy?

Hello,
can I operate Squid in a network served by another 2 Squids, but
independently from them? That is, can I point my Squid at the organisational
cache for any non-local requests and be served just like an ordinary user
with a browser would? Has it got anything to do with cache_peer_domain or is
it just me being new to Squid?
