How to handle large object requests ?

First of all, thanks for the answers to my previous
question about IMS.

How do administrators tackle the issue
of downloading large files ?
I have seen some of you set the maximum download size to
about 40MB, but this will deny the possibility of downloading an
ISO file of for instance RedHat. Isn't that bad ?
