Child wait

Excuse me for this separatly topic of this list.
The problem is that I was working pretty good with SENDMAIL 8.03 and
sudenly yesterday when i try to send a message that has 30k or more is
waiting a lot of time and listing the process i have this:
20592 ? S 0:00 sendmail: PAA20592 [172.19.16.1]: DATA
20638 ? S 0:00 sendmail: server [172.19.16.84] child wait

And I have to kill that process because is waiting a lot of time.

Someone can help me, please.
