        Yes, you can. Put the latest development kernel (i guess it's around
2.4.0-test2); it is pretty stable, so don't worry.
        Then download the userspace tools, from http://netfilter.kernelnotes.org/
(and also the user manuals in HTML format)

        Netfilter (or iptables) is the replacement for ipchains. It is very
powerful, you get full NAT, ToS mangling and other goodies. Feels like a
Cisco to me. ;-)

        I use Squid on many firewall boxes, with masquerade and stuff, and works
pretty well without NAT.
