filedescriptors and cache

i'm migrate a squid 2.2.5 under freebsd 3.3 to freebsd 4.0 and under a
new hardware

When i launch the squid i have many disks accesses and the following
messages " your cache is running out of filedescriptors "

My cache have 3000 Ko , and his structure is two level with 32 each

What can i do to avoid this message
