Yep, I also had a look at the source to see where this comes from.

Inodes most probably isn't the problem - the messages startet occuring quite
soon after starting with completely empty cache dirs; inode usage is still
minimal:

I'm currently trying to understand the problem by going over the source
code; still not clear.
