squid without proxying

WOuld it be possible (and reasonable) to setup squid as a proxy server,
but not have it do any caching? I just want a way to route http traffic
through a different line, and I was hoping to use a proxy server to do
this. However, I only have a very low-end machine available, and I don't
want to deal with caching pages. Can I basically use it as a router for
web browsers?

Also, has anyone gotten squid working with the Linux Router Project?

Thanks.
