[SQU] more on "trouble with yahoo.com & yimg.com"

We have upgraded to 2.2.STABLE5 and this does not appear to fix the
problem I previously discussed (see below). In following more closely to
the access.log I see where the problem might be, but am unsure of why this
is happening or how to fix this issue.

Here's what I see in the access.log file when checking out a Yahoo! news
page that exhibits the problem.

-----BEGIN-----
967671861.500 15 198.145.168.18 TCP_MISS/304 294 GET
http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/dn/reuters5.gif -
DIRECT/us.i1.yimg.com image/gif

---
967671861.504 18 198.145.168.18 TCP_MISS/304 294 GET
http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/dn/main4.gif - DIRECT/us.i1.yimg.com
image/gif
---
967671861.520 15 198.145.168.18 TCP_MISS/200 395 GET
http://us.a1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/a/ya/yahoo_visacard/seesaw_trns_visa.gif
- DIRECT/proxy1.pcez.com image/gif
-----END-----
You can see where both of the first two image files were a MISS and then
head DIRECTLY to the proper yimg.com to retreive the file. On the third
instance, the visa image file results in a MISS and for some reason squid
seems to want to connect DIRECTLY to itself (proxy1.pcez.com) to retrieve
the file. Obviously the file isn't there, so the browser is unable to
display this particular image.
Why would squid connect directly to itself and not to yimg.com like the
others?
In running a grep for "DIRECT/proxy1" through the access.log - I can see
that only Yahoo! and a few sparse AOL requests exhibit this behavior.
Anyone have any input on this?
Thanks,
Marcus

Subject: [SQU] trouble with yahoo.com & yimg.com
We're having a slight problem with Squid 2.2STABLE2 (non-transparent) and
Yahoo. When a browser (either one) is configured for the proxy server, the
photographic images from the news pages on Yahoo do not load. Other GIF
and JPG graphics are loaded normally, but the photographic images aren't
coming through. Once you take out the proxy settings, all is fine. I've
tried putting in yahoo and yimg for the stop list and no_cache ACL, but no
luck.
Anyone else having this problem? The store.log and access.log seem to show
the right info. This one has me puzzled.
Reponses to <marcus@pcez.com> would be much appreciated!
TIA,
Marcus
