Rob,

I tried SSH--or at least I think I did--and it also timed out. Here's what
I did:

export CVS_RSH=ssh
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.squid.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/squid logon

I pressed enter for the password and NOTHING...it eventually timed out.

If you have port 22 (SSH) open you could use that as your CVS RSH (see
the squid cvs page on sourceforge). Or if that won't do I'll look into
creating a snapshot and putting that on sourceforge.
