Hi All,

I am using

Redhat linux 6.0
squid-2.3stable4

I followed the FAQ 17 to set Transparent Caching. After
changing the /usr/src/linux/.config
I compiled the kernel like this in /usr/src/linux/

make menuconfig

After selecting the options, I issued the following
command

 make dep ; make clean

The above works fine.

make zImage

But this command gives the following error

make[3]: *** [ip_input.o] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory
`/usr/src/linux-2.2.5/net/ipv4'
make[2]: *** [first_rule] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory
`/usr/src/linux-2.2.5/net/ipv4'
make[1]: *** [_subdir_ipv4] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.2.5/net'
make: *** [_dir_net] Error 2

Is it the correct way to set the transparent caching
without router or L4 switch.
How to compile kernel(Is the above is right)

Is there any other way to set the transparent caching
without Router and L4 switch.

If anyone knows, how to set transparent caching
explain me in detail.

Thanks,
Balu.
