RE: [squid-users] unexpected state in AuthenticateNTLMFixErrorHea der (squid crash)

Just wanted to chime in that I too am experiencing this problem, and if I
rember correctly it was Robert who gave me the patch that caused this to
happen. It was a temporary fix to the issue of ntlm_auth consistantly dying
and causing the squid process to core and die as well, instead now the
ntlm_auth program just restarts it's self requiring the user to
reauthenticate.

der (squid crash)

Occasionally the browser will pop up a message requesting authentication.
Usually cancelling the dialog box actually makes the page access succeed.
Seen with IE 4.01SP2 and 5.5SP1. We also see the

        unexpected state in AuthenticateNTLMFixErrorHeader

message, but its occurrence doesn't seem to correspond to a visible problem.

There's also a build problem - the NTLMSSP/ntlm_auth helper won't build
because:

gcc -g -Wall -I. -I../../../../../../include -I../../../../../../include
-c smbencrypt.c
In file included from /usr/include/dirent.h:45,
                 from smbencrypt.c:26:
/usr/include/sys/dirent.h:52: syntax error before `u_int32_t'
*** Error code 1

Stop.

Fixed by adding #include <db.h>

Apart from this, it seems stable.

This is on BSDi Internet Super Server 4.2.

Regards,

Robin

Can you provide some detail on your problem?

Rob

I also have some problems with the NTLM authentication (using
squid-head-200104232300), but our firewall doesn't allow CVS access to
the outside world. Is there a way to download a whole branch from CVS
using the web frontend, or is there some other solution ? Opening up
ports on the firewall is not an option :(

I'd like you to try the bleeding edge NTLM code and tell me if it fixes
this problem for you, - its accessed via CVS from squid.sourceforge.net.

The cvs branch (tag) you want is ntlm.
