When you say investigate your DNS server settings, do you mean the settings
for the DNS daemon (i.e., named) or DNS settings in squid?

Are you running a normal proxy or a "transparent" one?

If it is only the first page of a site that takes logner then first
thing to investigate is your DNS server settings.
