For transparent proxying to work you MUST

a) Have some means of getting the packets routed to the proxy box.
(which you apparently have)

b) The TCP/IP implementation on the proxy box must be altered to
intercept these packets even if not addressed to any of it's configured
interfaces or IP aliases. (this you are missing)

c) Use a proxy that knows about transparent proxying and the method used
in (b). Squid knows about the common interception methods: IP-Filter,
Linux ipchains and (Squid-2.4 and later) Linux iptables.
