sometimes squid happens to do strange things if
the 'always_direct' or 'never_direct' rules are not set.
the 'minimum_direct_hops' rule is another interesting one to look at.

if your squid is the only proxy around, try and set 'always_direct allow
all'.
if there is a parent you should set 'never_direct allow all'.

Hi,

I have a strange problem with my Squid-Proxy. The proxy runs DEBIAN 2.2. I
apt-get install squid and anything runs fine. After one or two days the
proxy begun to show no images and uncomplete html pages (maybe at one of
five pages). I apt-get remove squid and installed it from sources. Now this
strange effect was there right from start. I do not changes very much in
the
default squid.conf - only port and acl for local net. Today I downloaded
the
daily-build - same effect. Very few sites were complete - very much
pictures are not shown - very much error messages (connection refused,
timeouts, ...).. My internetconnection ist alright, cause I tested it from
an another computer within my lan which I configured to not use the proxy.
My primary goal was to set up a transparent proxy but now I were lucky to
have a proxy without strange errors.

maybe anyone has an idea
