[squid-users] Forcing squid to direct the request to a parent cache

I'm trying to force squid to always pass the requests to a parent cache (an Interscan viruswall box)

the conf :
squid-2.4-STABLE1
squid.conf :
cache_peer viruswall parent 8080 7 no-query default
prefer_direct = off

The Peek Cache Statistics form the cache manager :

Parent : viruswall/8080/7
Flags : no-query default
Status : Up
AVG RTT : 0 msec
LAST QUERY : 998655933 seconds ago
LAST REPLY : 998655933 seconds ago
PINGS SENT : 0
PINGS ACKED: 0 0%
FETCHES : 0 0%
IGNORED : 0 0%
Histogram of PINGS ACKED:
keep-alive ratio: 0%

So squid see the parent and is alive but it still send the request to the net.

Does somebody as an idea of what's wrong on the conf ?
