[squid-users] squid stopping

I am having problems starting squid. It starts the gives the subsys locked.
Cache.log indicates the /cache is full but df shows it is not.
What could be the problem?

from cache.log
2001/10/15 09:03:17| /cache/swap.state.new: (28) No space left on device

from df -h
/dev/md4 3.8G 2.2G 1.4G 62% /cache
