I have never used Squid-2.3 and maybe the syntax differs between 2.3 and
2.4. The syntax for Squid-2.4 is supposed to be:

replacement_policy heap GDSF

One further note: The heap policies haven't received much testing and
there may well be bugs there. Please try if the same problem appears
when using the standard "lru" policy.
