[squid-users] Initialization issues

When squid comes up on a machine that happens to not be connected to a
network, it spews a bunch of DNS related messages on the console and them
kills itself due to "too many errors".

What is it trying to do, and how can I get it to be more passive, and to
not consider this a fatal condition?
