Smells like your browser isn't really configured to use the proxy.
Make sure you have actually selected to use the proxy, not only
filled in the proxy addresses.

See your squid.conf.

An IP adddress do not have a netmask, only networks have netmasks.
Squid will warn on incorrect network specifications in case you
actually intended to specify a IP address.
