Err... I think what you should do with an accelerator is to redirect calls to
the site via the proxy, so that if you type http://site:8102 then it is
automatically redirected to Squid and then sent on locally to the Apache / Web
server on whatever port that listens on; if you just connect to the cache port
then it is going to do wierd stuff.

Somebody tell me if I'm wrong.
