# Front Proxy
cache_peer 10.0.1.27 parent 3128 3130 proxy-only carp-load-factor=0.25
cache_peer 10.0.1.28 parent 3128 3130 proxy-only carp-load-factor=0.25
cache_peer 10.0.1.29 parent 3128 3130 proxy-only carp-load-factor=0.50

That's pretty much all that's needed. The 3 parent proxies are all
configured as siblings to one another. The load distribution was setup
in a way to handle half of the load to 2 similarly configured machines
with the other half to a slightly faster machine with a larger storage
capacity. I've also added some recommended tweaks which I picked up from
the list, such as using aufs, reiserfs as the file system, etc.

The load distribution reported by MRTG seems to correspond with how we
wanted it. The proxies handle roughly 2000 requests/min on the average
(I wonder if its possible to increase that, though, as we've peaked to
3000 once). The cache/hit ratio is pretty good as well, around 25% on
off-peak hours to as high as 80% on peak hours.
