Alan,

        Located in the squid.conf file there is a section that lists the port
that squid will listen on. The standard port is 3128. So, what you can do
is fire up your favorite text editor and search for the following string:

        http_port 3128

        Change the number to whatever port you wish to have squid listen on.
Just before that line is a small section detailing what that line does,
along with some further information on how that line functions.
