[squid-users] maximum cache effect?

Hi,

My question is, what are the key settings to get the maximum cache effect.

Scenario: Many users use one proxy server (squid) to go on almost every site
into the internet.

Target: cache so much as possible to reduce the data-transfer and therefore
the costs, except files like
        *.pdf, *.zip, *.exe and so on.
