Hi,

I have Squid Cache: Version 2.4.STABLE3 installed on a RedHat 7.2 based
Clark Connect 1.1 system.

When I rebooted my CC 1.1 box I started getting the following errors in my
cache log

2002/09/24 19:14:57| DNS Socket created on FD 4
2002/09/24 19:14:57| Adding nameserver 212.23.8.1 from /etc/resolv.conf
2002/09/24 19:14:57| Adding nameserver 212.23.8.6 from /etc/resolv.conf
2002/09/24 19:14:57| helperOpenServers: Starting 5 'squidGuard' processes
2002/09/24 19:14:57| errorTryLoadText: '/etc/squid/errors/ERR_READ_TIMEOUT':
(13) Permission denied
FATAL: failed to find or read error text file.
Squid Cache (Version 2.4.STABLE3): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.070 seconds = 0.040 user + 0.030 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 305

Tried setting ownership of /etc/squid/ to squid suvlet and permissions of
755 which came from a post I found on the net.

See http://www.faqts.com/knowledge_base/view.phtml/aid/1844/fid/174

The only fix I found so far is to uninstall all rpms related to squid
reinstall then restore .conf files and squidguard control files.

This is a pain so if someone can spot what is going wrong I would be most
grateful.

Thanks,

Barry.
