[squid-users] Accessing Local Domain Names

Ladies and Gents

I have a 192.168.0.0 network and a squid server servicing http clients wishing to surf the internet. I am not running a DNS. I want to set up an Apache server on the 192.168.0.0 net (intranet) and allow local http clients to view pages on the local server via domain name - not IP address. This has nothing to do with pages published on the net -- this will be all internally published stuff.

What is the general approach I should take to accomplish this? The easy way would be to add the address in the local client host table I think, albeit sloppy I was hoping there's a more elegant way to approach this perhaps through an acl or httpd tag. If I'm off base, I'd really appreciate some wisdom on this.

Still learning

Chris
