Not being such brainer here, "but just in case", do you have any other
browser beside Netscape? If so, perhaps you should try to imitate your
actions there.

In my opinion, this is obviously Netscape's problem (since I'm not
Netscape's programmer and it's not an open source application, I can't
pinpoint the problem was), that a single file should work, quoted from you.

Yes and no. But don't take it from me. I'm not a Netscape user but I think
there is settings in Netscape that you can check. You can try this action :

1. Find Netscape proxy setting, configure it to manually insert proxy IP
address and port. Insert your proxy setting. Then try your previous action,
the first.
2. Don't use any proxy. If there is setting for automatically configure
proxy, don't turn it on since it is just another way to find a proxy. Then
try your action again.

I will leave you with the results' conclusion.
