 Which version of squid are you using ?
 On which platform/os/version ?

 You mean you have conn. problems from browser to squid.
 A possible test could be :
 
 from_browser_box> telnet squid_box squid_port
 GET http://www.cnn.com/ HTTP/1.0
 <double return>

 This should work normally.
