kqueue is supported in the current development version of Squid only
(what will become Squid-3.0). There has never been any plans to have
kqueue supported in Squid-2.5, and there is no patches adding said
support to Squid-2.5.

This is because the patch is for the development version of Squid at the
time, which is significantly different from Squid-2.5.

The deferred reads is rumored to be eleminated in the current
development version, which makes life easier for kqueue, epoll and other
kernel event mechanisms.
