[squid-users] cache questions

Hi All,

Running Squid.2.5-STABLE1 and getting ready to switch to Squid.2.5-STABLE2.
System OS is RedHat Linux.

I've been checking archives for some general cache info. I'm thinking I
need to increase cache, but not sure. Currently,
cache_dir ufs /d1/squid_cache 2048 16 256

I have some disk that could be used for cache.
/dev/sdb1 17488652 7408048 9192212 45% /d1

System has 1gig of memory. Number of proxy users usually averages
between 250 to 300.

Generally, is it best to use as much disk for cache as possible?

system says /d1/squid_cache is using 1.9gig.
If cache is full (or soon to be full), then should I increase cache size?
How do you determine if cache_dir is filled? I only know to run disk
usage (du -sh /d1/squid_cache) to determine how
much disk directory is using). Does Squid's cache mgr tell current
size of cache, available/remaining?

Looking at cache dirs, only first four dirs of the the 16 are filled.
Why aren't all 16 dirs being used? Is current 2 gig allocated to cache
not enough to fill all 16 dirs?

Enclosed is cache mgr runtime info.

Thanks !
