There is a weird binary character (line) , on the squid.conf
you send me,at the very beginning.
Correct this, if it is seen in squid.conf as-you-have-it.

Alternatively run 'squid -k parse' , and watch for any errors reported.

Also when all these tests are (were) done, check your system logs via

 % dmesg

and have a look at /var/log/messages

Watch for errors , possibly related to networking.

If all of this is to no avail and , you are sure there is not firewall
between your clients and squid, then re-install the redhat box,
from a good distribution , and (re) install squid, preferably from
native source distribution (from the squid site).

And have a go again.
