Odd.. I would have expected a FATAL message there..

In any case, on fatal errors follow the procedure outlined in the Squid
FAQ on how to report bugs

Also verify if the same problem exists in the current stable release

   http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v2/2.5/

   (current stable release is 2.5.STABLE6).
