No idea.

The theoretical criteria for aufs to work is that one thread performing
disk I/O must not block the other threads of the application. Or
specifically in the aufs case that the I/O threads performing disk I/O
does not block the main thread performing networking.

If the above is fulfilled by FreeBSD 5 then chances are very high aufs
will perform nicely.
