[squid-users] Disk caching

Hello.
I am currently running Release 2.5 STABLE 4 version. In the very near
future I need to turn on disk caching. Being new to the group, can
some body provide guidance as of
1) whether disk caching is functional & stable

2) whether I should upgrade my version of Squid , OR, Release 2.5
STABLE 4 is good enough

3) So far as our disk caching goes, I need to be able to hold up to
512 40MB files in the disk cache. Has anybody tried this sort of
thing? Any/all advice is greatly appreciated.
