In such case I'd look at the scripts providing the "dynamic" content, if
they can check for its validity from If-Modified-Since and/or ETag and
optionaly provide "304 Not Modified" reply.

This is probably most important thing - if they can do that, they will
effectively work with remote proxies, and also in such case squid
accelerator will be much more effective.
