By wiser, I mean: will squid just picked up where it left off with the cache as if nothing happened? Or will items in the cache become alien to squid?

Not a big deal either way, I'll just try it and if I have to wipe the caches, so be it.

  You don't have to run 'squid -z'; mind you the epoll patch, is as I believe,
not ready for production use.
