My squid server is in production, so the nightly release suppose to be applied like new install .. squid-3.0.PRE5-20070406 or must apply only the diff as a patch. The existing configuration will be wiped out? I would suggest you try the next nightly before looking further at this. A big batch of changes just went in to Squid-3 as part of a major ICAP update (thanks Alex!), and code related to the above message has been redone a lot..
