[squid-users] Vary object loop

Hi everyone,

I am trying to track down some strange squid issues that we are
experiencing, and I'm trying to start by looking at the squid logs.
If I tail the log file, I get lines like this:

2007/06/01 15:40:27| varyEvaluateMatch: Oops. Not a Vary match on
second attempt, 'http://me/static/20070524/css/base_versioned.css'
'accept-encoding="gzip,deflate", user-agent="Mozilla%2f5.0%20(Macintos
h%3b%20U%3b%20PPC%20Mac%20OS%20X%20Mach-O%3b%20en-US%3b%20rv%3a1.8.1.4)%20Gecko%2f20070515%20Firefox%2f2.0.0.4"'
2007/06/01 15:40:27| clientProcessHit: Vary object loop!

This pattern ("Oops. Not a Vary match on second attempt" followed by a
"clientProcessHit: Vary object loop!") accounts for nearly all of the
squid log. Can someone please explain to me the meaning of these
messages?
