[squid-users] aufs cache_dir growing beyond configured limits?

Aside from the fact that this one is an old version
(below), it's a little distressing to see squid occasionally
filling up a 1024M partition when configured for:

cache_dir aufs /mnt/squid 950 32 384

It's the only thing using the partition,
and sometimes squid clears it out itself
within a few minutes.

These log messages were seen around
once occurance of this, but not sure if
it was before it filled, or coming back:

/var/log/squid/cache.log:2007/12/20 13:09:03| Reconfiguring Squid
Cache (version 2.5.STABLE11)...
/var/log/squid/cache.log:2007/12/20 13:09:03| Cache dir '/mnt/squid'
size changed to 972800 KB

What cases cause squid to resize an aufs store
differently than it's configured value?
