When I start winbind, I get an error saying create_sock_pipe /tmp/.winbind/pipe failed because Permission Denied and winbind stops. As per suggestion on some website I disabled the firewall, winbind started once. But again I have the same problem with same error.

Is not a squid related problem...anyway.... You must create the
/tmp/.winbind with the right permissions (the same user as winbind
runs). Like, if winbind runs as winbind user, the .winbind directory
must be rw for winbind user (or rw for the group).
