The "needs 10-20 MB index in memory for each GB on disk" is the explanation...
You need space (in RAM) to store those indexes...
Also, these 10-20 MB values are based on an average object size.
Indexes for bigger objects will take less memory (since less objects for a given
GB of disk).
Indexes for smaller objects will take more memory (since more objects for a
given GB of disk).
